Tackle Company is based in Sweden and was the first company to make
large arbor reels popular. The reels featured here are new as of
2005 due to the split between Loop and Danielsson Innovations. If
you have a Loop reel that has the Danielsson name on it you'll have
to contact Danielsson directly for service or to purchase spare
spools. The first thing that long time Loop fans will notice about
the new reels is the noticeable price drop. They managed to accomplish
this with no apparent loss of quality. In fact, they've simplified
the spool change operation, and they've designed the reel so that
all the spools are interchangeable
within each frame size. That means by purchasing any of the EvotecFW
reels you can use the other two spools on that same frame. In other
words, one FW reel can be used from perhaps a 3 weight to at least
an 8 weight system. The difference in the models is only in the
arbor size. My HD reel is set up with 8-10 spools for permit and
9-13 spools for tarpon and speylines. Combine the new low prices
with the ability to have fewer frames and you have a very economical
means of getting into high-end fly reels. Loop has updated the CLW
series and added the very unusual CLW-Clear for 2006. These are
outstanding reels when used for freshwater fishing, especially warmwater,
and for use as backups for saltwater trips. Loop still makes very
fine fly rods, lines, hooks, and many more items. In fact, there
aren't very many fly fishing oriented products that Loop doesn't
feature. I particularly like their double-handed rods and Adapted
Scandinavian spey heads. Call or e-mail me for more information
