Just Reels is proud to annouce that it has established a working partnership with Joe Janciuras, certainly one of the finest reelmakers working today. I can order for you any of the models that Joe features. Understand that Joe makes only a few reels per year and that he usually focuses in on a specific vom Hofe model at a time. That means that although the reel you really want might be listed below it could be years before Joe actually makes a reel in that model and size. In 2010, Joe is focusing in on the vom Hofe Ebonite Raised Pillar Perfection #1 as listed below. Initially, only ten of these will be available. To get yours, contact me by phone or e-mail and asked to be placed on the list, and be prepared to send a 50% deposit. Reels will be started when about half of them are spoken for. All of Joe's reels are essentially exact duplicates of the various Edward vom Hofe models. Joe mentioned to me that the only real difference between his reels and the vom Hofe models is that he machines a few parts that Mr. vom Hofe soldered. Since he felt that by getting rid of the soldered parts was a significant improvement he went that way. All models feature the vom Hofe Adjustable Automatic Drag Tension, nickel/silver bands, tobin bronze spool spindles, and aircraft grade aluminum. Actually, the Peerless has a non-adjustable clicker drag just like the original did. Perfection, Peerless and Restigouche models have ebonite sideplates and crank handles. The Restigouche has a seven position drag, while the Perfection has five drag settings. Each has a "poacher" button which is simply an on-off click mechanism. All of these models are single action reels. The Restigouche also features rolling pillar line guards. See the photo featuring the original catalog description of the Peerless model that is currently available. Please do not be confused. There are many fine reels out there that feature the general look of a vom Hofe. I carry some of them and there are others I don't carry. I'm not aware of anyone, however, who is doing reels virtually exactly the same way that Edward vom Hofe did them. The reel you purchase will not be a reel that resembles a vom Hofe, but will actually be a continuation of the vom Hofe reel. That's the reason why the prices are generally higher than for other vom Hofe styled reels.

The price shown for the currently available Peerless 2 includes an Arne Mason vom Hofe style case custom made for this reel. The price of the reel without the case is $2500.00. Peerless models are very similar to the Perfection with a friction drag, but without the five position drag adjustment. Actually, all of the prices above feature a gorgeous black leather Arne Mason hard case with striking red interior. You can deduct $250.00 from the price of any of these reels if the case is not desired.
