We have several fine reels to display. Please be
patient on download time.
INFORMATION REGARDING PURCHASING MISCELLANEOUS
EQUIPMENT
Almost without exception, what's listed in the
Miscellaneous section has only one of each available. If you want
it, don't hesitate before contacting me. When it's gone that's it.
In most cases, what you see here cannot be replaced easily. I offer
the same fifteen day turnaround for these products as I do new reels. PLEASE do not abuse this. Many other dealers
have given up offering returns on used reels. Though sometimes I
refer to this as the used section, fully half of the listings are
actually closeouts of discontinued models, colors, or where I have
decided not to carry a particular reel any longer. My inventory
and the business-owned reels then become expendable at excellent
savings for you. The conditions listed are accurate. In fact, most
of my customers tell me that I am conservative on my condition reports.New
reels are just that. Mint means that a reel may have been lined,
but it has never been fished. Excellent usually means you'd be hard
pressed to tell that it was used, but in fact it has been. Several
of the reels on this list were intended to be used by me, but either
never were or were used only once or twice. Since I am meticulous
about taking care of my equipment, they are then almost always indistinguishable
from new.
MISC. REELS FOR SALE
This list is accurate as of 8/30/10. More photos
will be up very shortly.
Bradley Brookie Pillar. Essentially the same size as the Brookie but in a raised pillar style. 2.375"x0.9" and 4.5oz. It'll carry a DT2F and 10yds of 20#. Brand new from inventory at 30+% off. RH or LH. $250.00.SOLD
Hardy Lightweight Series Flyweight. The smallest reel in the Lightweight series and one of the smallest Hardy reels ever and made in England. 2.55"x0.65" and 2.7oz. It'll hold a WF3F and 50yds of 20#. It also comes with a SPARE SPOOL. All of these models are going to appreciate in price for the next several years as the current reels are made in South Korea. Understand that everyone I've spoken to thinks the new reels are terrific, but there's still something to be said for owning an English reel made in England. The finish I would rate as excellent. There are the usual marks that show it's been used and there is a small discoloration of the finish on the back of the frame. There are no dings or scrapes. Internally, it appears nearly new. The reel comes with the original blue and tan zippered case and the spool is wrapped in bubble-pak. There is no instruction book. Currently set up for RH, but can be converted. Excellent. $350.00.
- Mt. Rainier 2.875 RP. I stumbled onto a couple of Mt. Rainier reels that are brand new. This one was probably my best seller over the ten years or so I sold these. 2.875" (pillar to pillar)x0.90" and 5.7oz. It'll hold a WF4F and 50yds of 20#. These are anti-reverse reels and the spools are made from Delrin and are the original cassette spools. Each Mt. Rainier came with a SPARE SPOOL and this one does, too. It also has an instruction manual and the original pouch for the reel. Brand new. RH or LH. $325.00.
Ballan Baby Trout Classic. As far as I can recall, this was Bill's first reel design, and I believe it's still being made today. 2.75"x0.85" and 4.7oz. That diameter measurement is across the frame and not from pillar to pillar. It'll hold a WF4 and 50yds of 20# backing. Bill's reels are simple, but look very sharp. While there is a way to convert them from RH to LH or vice versa, I've always found that Bill's trout reels had essentially the same pressure in each direction along with an almost identical click sound so I never worried about converting one. Condition is excellent+ and internally it looks much better than some of the Ballans I've had in here. It would be hard to distinguish it from new except for some tiny marks on the rims. It comes with a non-original reelcase. Excellent+. $250.00.
- Peerless 7M. The beautifully done raised pillar model from Bob Corsetti. 2.8" (across the frame not from pillar to pillar)x0.80" and 4.7oz. It'll hold a DT4F & 80yds of 20#, but will also easily hold a WF or DT 5 or even a WF6F with enough backing for most trout fishing. It comes with the original leather zippered case. This one is in very nice condition with very minimal wear on the reelfoot and almost no marking beyond that. The anodized aluminum sideplates are nearly perfect. See the Peerless page under NEW REELS on my site for more information on the 7M. Excellent. Currently LH, but can be converted. $495.00.SOLD
LH Design Sapphire #4/5. One of the most exquisite reels made today and rarely seen on the secondary market. The Sapphires have also been referred to as the Series E models. It's my favorite LH Design reel, and I use mine as my trout reel for the majority of my fishing. It introduced a high-grade polymer, known as PEI, as a spool material and makes for a stunning and very lightweight reel. It features Leen's two-way click mechanism with no actual drag. I've never been convinced that one really needs a drag in reels of this size, at least not most of the time. The advantage is that leaving the drag out eliminates some weight and also removes the RH/LH retrieve issue. These are completely made from "pure" titanium and PEI. 2.8"x0.80" and 4.4oz. It'll hold a WF4F and 50yds of 20#. I'd rate the condition as Excellent+. There's not a single mark on the reel and even the white fleece case (which only the very early Sapphires came with) is nearly spotless white. $895.00.SOLD
- LH Design Series C #4. One of the most exquisite reels made today and rarely seen on the secondary market. This is a super rare model that has gold plated screws and an ebony box with a titanium plate engraved with the LH Design name and reel model. Unbelievably gorgeous. The Series C models have an S-handle and the incredibly smooth Syntex drag. 3.0"x0.80" and 7.5oz. It'll hold a WF5F and 90yds of 20#. Even more interesting is the serial number---001. Now Leen begins each model with 001 so this serial number means it's the first C #4 made, not the first ever LH reel or even the first in the entire C series. I'd rate the condition as Mint. There's not a single mark on the reel or box, and even the white fleece case is spotless surgical white. One of the most spectacular collector reels I've had in over seventeen years in business. RH or LH. $4995.00.
Hardy "The Lightweight." This one features a two screw spool latch, has no separate lineguard, and has a solid spool. 3.2"x0.75" and 3.8oz. It'll hold a DT5F and 50yds of backing. A perfect trout reel for a 4 or 5 weight rod. These British made reels are becoming more sought after by Hardy aficionados as Hardy gradually moves production from the UK to Asia. This one works perfectly mechanically, but shows the normal edgewear around the frame. I would rate the cosmetic condition as VG. It does not have a reelcase or box included. Currently set up for RH, but is easily changed. $295.00.
LH Design Series AA #5. One of the most exquisite reels made today and rarely seen on the secondary market. The AA models are the same size at the A models, but have a two-way click system rather than the Syntex drag found in the A reels. I've never been convinced that one really needs a drag in reels of this size, at least not most of the time. The advantage is that leaving the drag out eliminates some weight and also removes the RH/LH retrieve issue. These are completely made from "pure" titanium. 2.8"x0.80" and 5.2oz. It'll hold a WF5F and 90yds of 20#. Even more interesting is the serial number---001. Now Leen begins each model with 001 so this serial number means it's the first AA #5 made, not the first ever LH reel or even the first in the entire AA series. Nevertheless, it's not often one can get a chance at a reel with that serial number at anything close to a realistic price. I'd rate the condition as Mint. There's not a single mark on the reel and even the white fleece case is spotless surgical white. $1850.00.
LH Design BB #5. One of the most exquisite reels made today and rarely seen on the secondary market. The BB models are the same size at the B models, but have a two-way click system rather than the Syntex drag found in the B reels. I've never been convinced that one really needs a drag in reels of this size, at least not most of the time. The advantage is that leaving the drag out eliminates some weight and also removes the RH/LH retrieve issue. These are completely made from "pure" titanium. 3.0"x0.80" and 5.9oz. It'll hold a WF5F and 90yds of 20#. Even more interesting is the serial number---001. Now Leen begins each model with 001 so this serial number means it's the first BB#5 made, not the first LH reel or even the first in the entire BB series. Nevertheless, it's not often one can get a chance at a 001 reel at anything close to a realistic price. I'd rate the condition as Excellent+, but there are some tiny surface scratches that can barely be seen if held up to a good light. Since there's no coating or anodizing on most Ti reels, almost all of them show slight imperfections even when new. $1695.00.
LH Design Series BB #5. Even more interesting is the serial number---002. Now Leen begins each model with 001 so this serial number means it's the second BB#5 made, not the second ever LH reel or even the second in the entire BB series. Nevertheless, it's not often one can get a chance at a reel with a serial number under 10 at anything close to a realistic price. I'd rate the condition as Mint. There's not a single mark on the reel and even the white fleece case is spotless surgical white. $1995.00.
LH Design Series A #5. One of the most exquisite reels made today and rarely seen on the secondary market. This one has a mayfly cutout for a ventilating pattern on the spoolplate. I cannot adequately describe it, you'll have to see the photos to appreciate what a gorgeous reel this is. The A models are the same size as the B models, but have a Bickerdyke spool guard in place of a full frame as well as the incredibly smooth Syntex drag. These are completely made from "pure" titanium. 2.8"x0.85" and 5.6oz. It'll hold a WF5F and 75yds of 20#. I'd rate the condition as Mint. There's not a single mark on the reel and even the white fleece case is spotless surgical white. RH. $2495.00.
Mt. Rainier 3.0" RV. Monte Schroeder, of Mt. Rainier Flyreel Works, developed these simple AR reels back in the late 1980s. This one is anodized aluminum and is brand new. 3.0"x0.95" and 6.7oz. It'll hold a WF5F and 75yds of 20#. There are a contingent of folks who like AR reels for trout fishing and this is one of the very few that are available. It comes with a SPARE SPOOL and both spools are Delrin cassettes. It also comes with the original reel pouch and instruction book. Brand new. RH or LH. $325.00.
- Winston 3 1/8" Perfect. As far as I know, these were the first Perfects that were machined from barstock. They are also anodized a beautiful Winston green. 3.125"x0.825" and 5.4oz. This one will hold a WF5F and 80yds of 20#. It is as-new. There's not a mark on it, and it has never been lined. It comes with the original pouch, box, instructions, and BLANK warranty card. Currently LH, but is easily changed. Mint. $795.00.
- Charlton 8350C with 1/5 spool. Another example of one of the most superb trout reels ever made. Unlike some of the others listed here, this one has seen a fair amount of use. It has some rash on the bottom of the frame and a very small mark on the reelfoot. It was also sent back to Jack Charlton so that the minimum drag would be closer to being freespool, which it now is. At freespool, however, the incoming click fades in and out. It has not affected the outgoing click and the fading disappears when even the smallest amount of drag is placed on it. There is no reelcase or box with it either. Overall condition is excellent--, but it operates just fine. Currently RH, but SA will change it over for a fee. $1295.00.
- Charlton 8350C with the 1/5 spool. These were less expensive than other Charlton models when they were still available new. However, far fewer of them were made than there were of the 8450C so I've seen very few of them the last year or two. I've said often that this is the finest serious trout reel ever made. In fact, it is way more trout reel than most trout fishing ever requires. However, there is some pretty intense demand for these so don't put off contacting me if you're interested. RH or LH. As-new. $1495.00.
Abel Pt.5. This is a later Abel, but still before they installed an outgoing click. It does have the squared-tooth gear, though, so it is easily changed from RH to LH. 3.0"x0.75" and 5.0oz. It'll hold a WF6F and 120yds of 20#, though it is often used with 5 weight lines and even occasionally for trout with 7 weight lines. With some GSP backing it could even be a light saltwater reel. It comes with the original nylon Abel reelcase. There's some very fine rash along the rim on this one. The reelfoot is fine. Overall, I'd rate it as Excellent---. RH or LH. $295.00.
- Charlton 8450C with 5/6 spool. Another Charlton 8450C with what was, by far, the most popular spool for trout fishing. Maybe the finest trout reel ever. This is new, in the box. RH or LH. $1495.00.
- Charlton 8450C with both the 5/6 and 7/8 spools. I've had a couple like this recently and they've never lasted long. These are, by far, the most popular spools for this reel. Both the reel and the spools appeared unused. They come with the original reelcases, paperwork, but no boxes. Perhaps the finest trout and light saltwater reel of this generation. RH or LH. Excellent+. $1995.00.SOLD
- Charlton 8450C with 7/8 spool. Another Charlton 8450C with what was, by far, its most popular spool. Maybe the finest trout, steelhead, and light saltwater reel ever. This is new, in the box. RH or LH. $1495.00.
- Peerless #2. One of Bob Corsetti's very popular trout reels, this one is best suited for five and six weight lines. 3.25"x0.70" and 5.5oz. It'll hold a DT5F and 60yds of 20#. The aluminum rims show some very slight markings, whereas the black anodized aluminum sideplates still look very nice with no scratches or the like that go through the anodizing. Please note, this is an early Peerless and is not an "A" model and therefore does not have the adjustable gear and pawl. The gear and pawl is adjustable internally if you find it too light or too heavy for your purposes. What you set is what you have until you take it apart again. That's the way most clicker traditional trout reels are done, but Peerless offers only the "A" version new these days. It comes with the original leather zipped reelcase. Excellent--. $350.00.
Hardy Lightweight Series Princess. One of the early Princess reels from the "Made in England" days. 3.5"x0.65" and 4.6oz. It'll hold a WF6F and 100yds of 20# or a WF7F and 75yds of 20#. All of these models are going to appreciate in price for the next several years as the current reels are made in South Korea. Understand that everyone I've spoken to thinks the new reels are terrific, but there's still something to be said for owning an English reel made in England. I would rate the external finish as excellent. There are some marks indicating that it's been used, but there are no dings or bad scrapes. Internally, the reel looks practically as-new. It comes only with the original blue and tan zippered reelcase. There is no instruction book. Currently set up for RH, but can be converted. Excellent. $295.00.
- LH Design Series B #6/7. One of the most exquisite reels made today and rarely seen on the secondary market. This particular reel also has a stunning engraving of a trout on the backplate. The B models feature Leen's Syntex drag which is among the smoothest drags I've ever experienced. These are completely made from "pure" titanium. 3.15"x0.80" and 6.8oz. It'll hold a WF7F and 100yds of 20#. Even more interesting is the serial number---002. Now Leen begins each model with 001 so this serial number means it's the second B#6/7 made, not the second ever LH reel or even the second in the entire B series. Nevertheless, it's not often one can get a chance at a reel with a serial number under 10 at anything close to a realistic price. I'd rate the condition as Mint. There's not a single mark on the reel and even the white fleece case is spotless surgical white. RH. $2995.00.
- Tide Reels 6.8. Out of South Africa comes this well made direct drive reel. 3.55"x1.30" and 8.0oz. This should hold a WF8F and close to 200yds of 20# due to its width. It features a draw bar synthetic disc drag and is silent in both directions. It has a satiny black anodized finish and is a worthy saltwater reel. If nothing else, it'll make a terrific backup reel at a nice low price. This one has been sold, but not used. RH only. As-new. $195.00.
- Mt. Rainier 3.5" RV. Monte Schroeder, of Mt. Rainier Flyreel Works, developed these simple AR reels back in the late 1980s. I used my 3.5 RV Ti for many years, and it was like new when I finally sold it. This one is aluminum and IS brand new. 3.5"x0.95" and 8.8oz. It'll hold a WF7F and 150yds of 20#. Importantly, it'll hold a WF9F and almost 200yds of 50# PowerPro. It comes with a SPARE SPOOL and both spools are Delrin cassettes. It also comes with the original reel pouch and instruction book. Brand new. RH or LH. $350.00.
- Mt. Rainier 3.5" Classic. Monte Schroeder, of Mt. Rainier Flyreel Works, developed these simple AR reels back in the late 1980s. I used my 3.5 RV Ti for many years, and it was like new when I finally sold it. This one is aluminum and IS brand new. 3.45"x1.10" and 10.4oz. It'll hold a WF9F and 150yds of 20#. The Classic is what Monte at one time called his vom Hofe design. Black and silver with an S-handle and black reelfoot. It comes with a SPARE SPOOL and both spools are Delrin cassettes. It also comes with the original reel pouch and instruction book. Brand new. RH or LH. $450.00.
- Charlton 8500SS 0.8. Again, there is no need to go into detail on these reels. Anyone who is likely to buy it knows a lot about it already, maybe more than I do. This is the perfect size for bonefishing, most single-handed rod salmon fishing, and I even used mine on permit. This one appears as-new. It has the original reelcase, but not the box. LH (but can be converted by SA.) Excellent. $2495.00.
This one has some very minor boat rash on a small area of the frame. LH or RH. Excellent. $2395.00.
- Charlton 8500SS 0.8. Finally, one in RH retrieve! Again, there is no need to go into detail on these reels. Anyone who is likely to buy it knows a lot about it already, maybe more than I do. This is the perfect size for bonefishing, most single-handed rod salmon fishing, and I even used mine on permit. This has a non-original box, but includes a personal note from Jack Charlton to the original owner. RH (but can be converted by SA.) Excellent. $2495.00.
LH Design Series B #8. One of the most exquisite reels made today and rarely seen on the secondary market. The B Series features the incredibly smooth Syntex drag system that Leen developed. This would make a superb bonefish reel and also be a fine Atlantic salmon/steelhead model. I used a Series C #8 for years in both the salt and for salmon and loved it. These are completely made from "pure" titanium. 3.35"x1.35" and 9.2oz. It'll hold a WF8F and 225yds of 20#. I'd rate the condition as Mint. There's not a single mark on the reel and even the white fleece case is nearly spotless white. $2795.00.
Bauer MX5 that's mis-marked as an MX6. This is the serious saltwater reel in the Bauer lineup. The drag knob has been moved to the backplate and the drag's been beefed up compared to other Bauer models. 4.25"x 1.2" and 8.9oz. It'll hold a WF10F and 325yds of 30#. It's certainly large enough to handle most tarpon. It'll also hold many speylines and an adequate amount of backing. Spruce green spool with a black frame. This one is brand new with the original box, neoprene case, and paperwork. Currently LH, but can be converted. $395.00.SOLD

Bauer MX5. It has a gray spool with a black frame. This one is brand new with the original box, neoprene case, and paperwork including a blank warranty card. Currently LH, but can be converted. $425.00.
- Charlton 8550C with Bonefish spool. There's no reason to go into detail with this one. It is one of the most valuable and sought after saltwater reels ever. This one is unfished, in the box. LH only (although SA can convert it for $50.00). $2395.00.
Magla LA9/10. Due to a lack of interest in them, I am no longer featuring these fine reels from South Africa. They have a cork drag, rim control, and a nice semi-gloss finish. 3.875"x1.3" and 8.7 oz. It'll hold a WF9 & 225 yds of 20# which is exactly how I've had mine set up. A similar model has been my 9 weight bonefish/permit reel for the last three years or so, and I couldn't have been happier with it. It comes with a box, nylon case, and brief instructions. Due to its outgoing clicker setup it cannot be converted to RH operation. New from inventory. LH only. 30% off retail. $250.00.
Lamson Litespeed LS 3.5. Another one of these very popular models from WaterWorks/Lamson. This one just came back from Lamson for an overall checkup. 3.95"x1.35" and 6.7oz. It'll hold a WF9F and 200yds 20#. I have a couple of fishing buddies who use this reel for most of their bonefishing and love it. It's also a nice salmon and steelhead reel and is light enough to be a superb warmwater or striper reel. This one is matte gray. There are a couple of very tiny marks on the drag knob, reelfoot, and frame, but overall the reel is in excellent condition. It comes with the original neoprene case, instruction book, and box. Excellent. Currently LH, but can be converted. $250.00.
- Henschel #3 Dual-mode with Progressive Reelfoot. An outstanding permit reel, large bonefish reel, or Atlantic salmon reel when you wish to fish with something other than a direct drive reel. 3.80"x0.95" and 12.3oz. It is listed as holding a WF9F and 275yds of 30#. More importantly, it'll hold a WF10F and 225yds of 30#. This one is in nearly unused condition with only some slight markings on the reelfoot and the stainless handle. The progressive reelfoot minimizes the perceived weight when actually using the reel. It comes with the original box, instruction sheet, and tough nylon reelcase. LH only (it would have to be returned to Germany for conversion). Excellent. $795.00.SOLD
- Charlton 8500SS 1.2. Another one of what might be the most popular model Jack did under the Charlton Outdoor Technologies banner. Perhaps the finest permit reel ever, and also quite popular for Atlantic salmon. The owner of this one fished a twelve weight with it for tarpon. It has two blemishes: One is on the corner of the reelfoot-even though the rest of the reelfoot shows no evidence of ever having been on a reelseat! The other is a small ding on the rim of the spool. Nothing that would inhibit using it. It comes in the original Charlton reel valise (it's a very early model originally purchased in 1995.) RH. Excellent. $2195.00.
- Charlton 8500SS 1.2. No need to go into detail on this one. Perhaps the most coveted permit reel ever and highly sought after for Atlantic salmon, steelhead, and similar fish. Though not new, there are no signs of it having been used. Currently LH, but SA can convert it. $2395.00.SOLD
- Charlton 8500SS 1.2. No need to go into detail on this one. Perhaps the most coveted permit reel ever and highly sought after for Atlantic salmon, steelhead, and similar fish. This is an early model featuring a cork drag. It comes with Jack's original reel valise. RH or LH. Not new, but doesn't show any signs of actual use. $2295.00.
HarrisonSW
Los Roques. Felton Harrison was the first person to use titanium
in a commercially available fly reel that I know of. It's not
the frame or spool that's titanium. It's the pawl, spindle,
and a few other small parts that normally would be of much heavier
stainless steel. I believe that only about 104 reels were ever
sold with the HarrisonSW name. They were available in four sizes
and in both direct drive and anti-reverse. This one is direct drive. Suffice it to say
that all the models are quite scarce. 3.7"x1.3" and 9.4oz. It
will hold a WF9F and 250yds of 30# backing. It features beautiful
gold anodizing with a large impregnated wood handle. The drag
knob is on the handle side. I doubt very many of these have
ever been used, and this one appears to have never been on a
rod or been lined. These have been seriously sought after by
collectors, especially in this condition. It could, of course,
make someone a nice bonefish reel or be used for stripers, perhaps.
Excellent+. LH only. $995.00.
- George Gehrke 900. The final model Gehrke reel with the flat counterbalance, knurled drag knob, and matte black finish. 3.45"x1.25" and 7.5oz. It'll hold at least a WF9F & 250yds of 30#. It comes with a SPARE SPOOL. It also has the original owner's name engraved on the backplate. The inside of each spool's rim has a stripe where the anodizing has been removed due to some abrasion in the reel's past. Whatever caused it has been repaired as that area is not now rubbing any other part. The lineguard at 6:00 also shows some abrasion. Both of these areas are so exact that the silver almost looks to be intentional, but I've handled several of these before and do not remember any "trim" of this type. This should not be a problem if the reel is used in freshwater, but extra rigor would be necessary in cleaning the reel if it's used in saltwater. Otherwise in excellent condition. Figure LH only, unless you know how to convert it. $250.00.SOLD
- Scientific Anglers System 3 10/11. This was SA's first attempt at the premium reel market. This reel was designed by Herman Voss, with help from Al Frens and others at API. It is an extremely well made and well designed reel that retailed for over $800.00 initially when new (at least the larger version which was introduced first did.) 3.875"x0.95" and 10.4oz. It'll hold a WF10F and 275yds of 30#. The drag on this reel is serious, indeed, and is what it became most famous for during its short run. The drag knob has detents and the system itself features a quiet incoming click and a more dramatic outgoing click. Unfortunately, SA has a history of not supporting really high-end reels (and other tackle items) long enough for the serious flyfisher to get excited about them. The Charltons are certainly a case in point. Trust me on this, these are terrific reels and are very usable in today's saltwater venues. It comes with the original box, instruction book, and even a blank warranty card. It does not appear to have ever been on a rod. This is much scarcer than the larger 11/12 model. Excellent+. RH or LH$550.00.
- Mako by Charlton 9550 1012 Type III. Probably the premium saltwater reel available today. Incredible drag, super smooth drag knob, totally sealed drag/clutch and perfectly sized for tarpon and similar fish. 4.50"x1.2" and 13.8oz. It'll hold a WF12F and 300yds of 50# PowerPro or 225yds of 30# Dacron backing. When it arrived it had a few fingerprints on it that showed me it probably had been used, but there are no other marks on it at all. Save a few $$$ and the wait for a new one. Excellent+. RH, but can be sent back for conversion. $895.00.SOLD
Elkhorn T4. I don't know much about these except they are marketed by the same people who do the popularly priced rods in Colorado. It's sort of a titanium color and is totally machined from barstock. 3.85"x1.35" and 8.1oz. It'll hold a WF12 and 250yds of 30#. More importantly it'll also hold a 7/8/9 Windcutter speyline and 150yds of 30# and even more if you use a Scandinavian head. As for serious saltwater fishing, like tarpon, I don't think there's enough top-end drag for that. I measured it as @3lb with the drag cranked all the way down. Now, that's plenty for almost any type of fishing, but tarpon and offshore are two exceptions. Also, there is no click in either direction. It appears unused. Currently LH, but I'm quite sure there'll be a way to convert it. There is no instruction sheet with it. Excellent+. $195.00.
LH Design Spey model. The newest reels from LH Design are their saltwater models that feature a center-mounted cork disc drag and have the kind of drag range necessary for saltwater fishing. The Bonefish, Tarpon, and Sailfish reels can be seen on the LH Design page of my website under NEW REELS and on the LH Design site. This is exactly the same reel as the Tarpon model, but it's been engraved to be the "Spey #9/10." It is engraved with this information plus has a beautiful engraving of a spey fly on the backplate. These are probably the finest overall reels in the LH lineup. Although the cost of ordering a new one depends upon the Euro/Dollar exchange, right now my site lists a new tarpon for $8950.00. 3.95"x1.3" and 12.4oz. It'll hold a WF10F and 300yds of 30# and an 8/9 Scando head with running line and about 150yds of 30#. The condition is absolutely mint and even the fleece reelcase is a spotless surgical white. RH. $6995.00.
Bellinger/Saracione 4" Nickel/silver Salmon reel. I've been trying to sell these as one of a set of three with matching serial numbers, but they just haven't moved. Therefore, I'm splitting them up. This one is 3.95"x1.16" and is 13.3oz. It'll hold a WWF 9/10/11 shorthead spey and 250yds of 30# or a WF10/11 long belly spey with 150yds of 30#. All of these feature Joe Saracione's superb cork disc drag with a 9 position lever for a drag adjustment. This one is brand new and comes with the original velveteen reelpouch, box, and warranty card. These were never made in significant numbers and were only offered to dealers at retail. Mint. RH only (although there probably is a way to convert it.) $2495.00.
- Charlton 8550C with Tarpon spool. There's no reason to go into detail with this one. It is one of the most valuable and sought after saltwater reels ever. Unlike most Charltons I get in here, this one shows signs of honest use. There is some fairly minor boatrash on the rim of the frame, but the rest of the reel looks fine. If you plan to use the one you buy, here's a chance to save a little money on one. LH, but can be converted by SA. $2495.00.
- Charlton 8550C with Tarpon spool. There's no reason to go into detail with this one. It is one of the most valuable and sought after saltwater reels ever. This one is unfished, in the box. LH, but can be converted by SA. $2595.00.
- Charlton 8550C with BOTH the Tarpon and the Bonefish spool. This is a very popular combination of perhaps the finest saltwater fly reel ever. The last one I got in here that had both these spools was about a year ago and sold at this $4K before I even got a chance to list it. Currently set up for RH retrieve, though SA will convert everything for $75.00 (the frame and both spools need to be converted.) Excellent+. $3495.00.
- Charlton 8550C with all four spools. This combination has shown up only occasionally over the years. The Spey spool is the problem as there are far fewer of them than there are of the other three spools. Included is one each of the Bonefish, Tarpon, Offshore, and Spey spools with the frame. Each is in absolutely as-new condition. At one time these would sell for close to $20K and the last set I'm aware of on the market was priced at $12K, but I never did determine whether it sold or not. Boxes and cases included. RH/LH. near mint. $9995.00.
- Scientific Anglers System 3 11/12. This was SA's first attempt at the premium reel market. This reel was designed by Herman Voss, with help from Al Frens and others at API. It is an extremely well made and well designed reel that retailed for over $800.00 initially when new. 3.875"x1.2" and 11.0oz. It'll hold a WF12F and 350yds of 30#. It comes with original suede reelcase. It shows just the slightest bit of use, but is clearly Excellent. RH or LH. $450.00.
HarrisonSW Archangel AR. Felton Harrison was the first person to use titanium
in a commercially available fly reel that I know of. It's not
the frame or spool that's titanium. It's the pawl, spindle,
handle and a few other small parts that normally would be of much heavier
stainless steel. I believe that only about 104 reels were ever
sold with the HarrisonSW name. They were available in four sizes
and in both direct drive and anti-reverse. This one is anti-reverse. Suffice it to say
that all the models are quite scarce. 3.95"x1.475" and 10.4oz. It
will hold a WF12F and 350+yds of 30# backing. It features beautiful
gold anodizing with a large impregnated wood handle. The drag
knob is on the handle side. This one has seen some use of the years. The frame is in excellent condition, but the arbor area of the spool has some minor corrosion that has been nicely buffed out. These have been seriously sought after by
collectors. It could, of course,
make someone a nice tarpon or sailfish reel or it could be used as a lightweight, large capacity speyreel, perhaps.
It comes in a non-original reelpouch and the owner's manual. Excellent(except as noted.) RH only. $995.00.
- Abel 4.5N Ported Big Game. These are no longer listed by Abel. The whole series of Big Game reels have been renamed as Standard Arbor Super Series reels. This one has the squared gear which allows for conversion from LH to RH and vice versa, and also has the double pawl system, which means it's not that old so it also has an outgoing click. It also includes an Abel arm. 4.45"x1.1"x13.1oz. Abel lists it as holding a WF13F and 500yds of 30#. I'm not so sure that this listing isn't a little ambitious, but it clearly holds enough line and backing for any tarpon or sailfish you'll find. It has the black Guide finish Abel has promoted, and I would rate the condition as Excellent. There are a couple of very small marks, but no scrapes or dings and no intrusions into the anodizing. From 5 feet you probably couldn't tell it from new. It comes with the original Abel reelcase, box, and instruction book,. Currently LH, but as noted can be converted, though the Abel Arm would need to be reversed. $495.00.
- Charlton 8550C with the Offshore spool. One of the Charlton models that are in the highest demand. This one is in excellent condition, although it has been used once or twice. It comes with the cordura Charlton reelcase, but no box or papers. Offshore spools cannot be converted and still have the cooling fins be effective. RH or LH. Excellent. $3495.00.
- Charlton 8550C with the Offshore spool. One of the Charlton models that are in the highest demand. This one is in as-new condition. It comes with the cordura Charlton reelcase, but no box or papers. Offshore spools cannot be converted and still have the cooling fins be effective so figure RH only. Mint. $4500.00.
- Hayden Pursuit #5. Terry Hayden has decided to take a hiatus from reelmaking for the time being. It's a shame because his reels are superb pieces of work and are arguably the finest anti-reverse reels available today. I'm going to shut down the Hayden page on my site and sell this last remaining reel in inventory here. 4.1"x1.35" and 13.8oz. It'll hold a WF12F and 300yds of 30# which makes it both a superb tarpon reel for the 100+ pound fish as well as the right size for most pelagic fishing. His drag on this reel is cork on teflon and one can achieve about 15 pounds of drag without it locking up. This is brand new from my inventory and can be RH or LH. It comes with a neoprene case, the original box and paperwork included. New. $695.00.SOLD
- Megoff MDS1214 LA Ti. Actually, that's how this reel is marked, but the truth is that it was a special order placed directly with Megoff in Ukraine and then not accepted when it was finished. Since the reel had not been shipped to the guy who ordered it he didn't decline it due to the reel itself. It is actually a bit larger in diameter than the former MDS 1214. It also has a larger, very comfortable handle. Alex Kaplan, of Megoff, also said that a few drag components were enhanced on this reel. 5.0"x1.25" and 17.6oz. It would hold any shooting head you can find, a 100ft running line, and probably about 800yds of 50# PowerPro. It is, of course, machined from pure titanium barstock. I know the gentlemen who ordered it quite well, and I know he was intending upon using it for large yellowfins, sharks, and similar game. He's actually fairly well known to pursue fish like that with 2 and 4 pound tippets, so I know he selected this reel due to its butter-smooth drag. This is brand new. RH only. $2295.00.
- Hayden Pursuit #6. Terry Hayden has decided to take a hiatus from reelmaking for the time being. It's a shame because his reels are superb pieces of work and are arguably the finest anti-reverse reels available today. I'm going to shut down the Hayden page on my site and sell this last remaining reel in inventory here. 4.9"x1.35" and 16.0oz. It'll hold a 30' shooting head and 750yds of 50# GSP which makes it the right size for most serious pelagic fishing. His drag on this reel is cork on teflon and one can achieve about close to 20lb pounds of drag without it locking up. This one has been sold once, but has not been used. That allows you to save about $200.00 over what I'd be getting for a new one. These are no longer available from Terry direct, and I've been out of stock since before the first of the year. It comes with a neoprene case, the original box and paperwork included. As-new. $695.00.
- Wellstone SW14-15LA. One of the finest pelagic reels available today, but certainly a well-kept secret. 4.7"x1.05" and 16.5oz. Wellstone lists it as holding a WF15F (good luck in finding one of those) & 1000yds of 50# GSP. My experience is that it'll hold a shooting head, short running line, and about that much GSP backing. See the Wellstone page on my site under NEW REELS to see the massive drag on these reels. These are silent on the ingo and have a fairly distinctive click on the outgo. This one features the beautiful blue finish and has the standard solid spool. Big Game anglers have come to prefer that for use with GSP as it prevents the gel-spun from bulging out the ventilating holes. Trust me, you can spend a lot more for a pelagic reel, but I'm not sure you can buy very many direct drive models that are better than this one. Essentially, the reel was lined but never used. I know the angler who bought it quite well and he has done very little fishing the last couple of years and admitted he never got a chance to use this one at all. It comes with the original neoprene reelcase, box, papers, spare parts, recommended reeldrag grease, and key for removing the drag knob for disassembly. Excellent+. Currently RH, but can be converted. $595.00.
Emery Sailfish. This is the larger of the two Emery reels normally seen. I've heard that a bonefish size reel was done at some point, but I've never seen one. This one has a serial number high enough that this is not one of the reels that John Emery actually made. After his unfortunate death, his wife and son made another run of reels of this size. What that means is it doesn't carry the fairly high price that one of those that actually have John's fingerprints tends to carry these days. 4.35"x1.2" and 14oz. It'll hold a WF12F and a ton of 30# backing, probably in excess of 500yds. It was designed for pelagic fish and I would assume it should hold a shooting head, short running line, and probably close to 1000yds of 50# PowerPro. All of John's reels were silent in both directions. This one is set up for LH retrieve and I'm not sure there's an easy way to convert it. The only wear, and it is minimal, is around the reelfoot. The rest of the satin black finish looks just about new. Excellent. LH only. $895.00.
Steelfin Abyss. One of the finest big game fly reels ever. 5.75"x1.4" and 18.9oz. It'll hold a shooting head with a 100' running line and close to 1000yds of 50# GSP backing. The drag is massive and is carbon fibre. It features an offset reelfoot so the reel doesn't feel as heavy on the rod as it would otherwise. These haven't been on the market now for about five or six years. I see about one a year go through my business. The last one was mint and sold for $1800.00. This one has a bad rash on the frame right in front of the offset reelfoot. Not sure how a rash developed there. It also has a slight downturn on one corner of the reelfoot. However, I tried placing it on the reelseat of my Cam Sigler rod and it fit fine. It certainly operates just fine, both incoming and outgoing. It comes with the original large nylon reelcase. It's currently set up for RH, but can be converted. Since it requires removing six screws that attach the reelfoot to the frame I'm going to let the buyer do the conversion if he/she absolutely needs LH retrieve. A terrific buy at the new price of $795.00.
MISC. GEAR FOR SALE
- Mystic Rod M383-3. A new rod from the Michigan company Mystic Outdoors. This is an 8' 3" 3 weight/3 piece. Beautiful rod with extremely nice cork for this day and age and a maple insert in the reelseat that's anodized aluminum but looks very much like nickel/silver. It features a crisp action but is not a stiff rod and seems to handle a three weight best. It's brand new except for a brief session on the lawn. Even the plastic wraps are still on the cork. It comes in a hard fibre rod tube and sock with all the paperwork. It hasn't even been registered for a warranty yet. As new... 20%+ off the retail. $275.00.
- Thomas & Thomas Horizon II-HII 906-4 (9' 6 weight-4piece.) The newest upgrade on this long time popular T&T series. The HII models are lighter and more responsive than the original Horizon series. This rod is brand new, still in the original shipping box. These retail for over $700.00. Now-$495.00.SOLD
- ADG Colorado Titanium 9' 7/8 weight 4-piece. Made in the USA. I've cast a couple of these over the years and they really are very nice casting rods. I guess the best description I can come up with is that they're quite fast without being stiff. I would treat the 7/8 designation as in the old days. Throw your weight forward floating lines in an eight weight and your sinking lines (or double taper floating if so inclined) as a seven weight. This one has a grey blank, a beautiful pewter colored anodized reelseat, sleeve ferrules and an inch and a half cork fighting butt. It shows minimal use as even the cork is quite clean. It comes with the original rod sock, but no rod tube. The price shown is well below 50% off retail. Excellent+. $250.00.SOLD
- ADG Colorado Titanium 9' 9/10 weight 4-piece. Made in the USA. I've cast a couple of these over the years and they really are very nice casting rods. I guess the best description I can come up with is that they're quite fast without being stiff. I would treat the 9/10 designation as in the old days. Throw your weight forward floating lines in a ten weight and your sinking lines (or double taper floating if so inclined) as a nine weight. Excellent+. $295.00.
- Thomas & Thomas Horizon II-HII 910-4 (9' 10 weight-4piece.) The newest upgrade on this long time popular T&T series. The HII models are lighter and more responsive than the original Horizon series. This is a superb permit, striper, or pike/muskie rod. It is brand new, still in the original shipping box. Has a two inch fighting butt. These retail for almost $750.00. Now-$525.00.
- Thomas & Thomas Horizon II-HII 912-4 (9' 12 weight-4piece) The newest upgrade on this long time popular T&T series. The HII models are lighter and more responsive than the original Horizon series. This is one of the finest tarpon rods you can own. This rod is brand new still in the original shipping box. These retail for over $775.00. Now $550.00.
- Winston Boron IImx 9' 12 weight. Perhaps the finest casting twelve weight I've ever owned, and I've owned a bunch. The truth is this followed me to the Keys two straight years and never came out of the rod tube as I just don't use twelve weights any more. It's been lawn cast once or twice, but that's it. It's action is fast, but it's not tomato stake stiff like their previous XTR models. It's definitely better suited for saltwater casting than the Boron IIx models. Full wells grip and nickel reelseat. It has my name on it, but that won't effect it during use. It includes the rod sock and superb Winston rod tube. Excellent+. Retail is about $750.00. $495.00.
- Lamiglas CST12989-6. This is a Lamiglas 12'9" 8/9 SIX piece rod. I purchased it so that I'd have at least one rod with me when I went Atlantic salmon fishing. Sure enough, on a trip to Newfoundland, Air Canada didn't get one of my checked bags to me until the third day of the trip so this was used for those first two days. Although I used a Scandinavian head on it that trip, the truth is that it's a better Skagit rod over all. It matches up well with either of the two Skagit lines I have listed under Fly Lines. It has a titanium anodized reelseat and short, Scandinavian styled rear grip. The blank is a beautiful burgundy color and the rod features spigot ferrules. It comes with the original rodsock and hard rod tube. Excellent+. $295.00.SOLD
- CND Atlantis 11' 9/10 3-piece double-handed surf rod. To my knowledge this was the first double-handed rod developed specifically for beach or surf fishing. There are many more available today and even the CND has been upgraded and is now called the Oceana. These rods have loads of punch and with two hands on the rod and no double-hauling it is not difficult to launch one hundred feet or more of line with one backcast. Though not intended for speycasting as such, with the right line these can make for an acceptable speyrod. In fact, I do some speycasting when beach fishing with my Beulah surf rod. This one features an deep grey/green blank, oversized stripping guides, a beautiful clear anodized reelseat and nice looking cork. It shows minimal use as even the cork is quite clean. It comes with the original rod sock but no rod tube. Excellent+ $325.00.SOLD

RECENT ARRIVALS-These will have photos available when I get

Bellinger/Saracione 3.5" Nickel/silver Salmon reel. I've been trying to sell these as one of a set of three with matching serial numbers, but they just haven't moved. Therefore, I'm splitting them up. This one is 3.5"x0.9" and is 11.4oz. It'll hold a WF8F & 200yds of 30#. All of these feature Joe Saracione's superb cork disc drag with a 9 position lever for a drag adjustment. This one is brand new and comes with the original velveteen reelpouch, box, and warranty card. These were never made in significant numbers and were only offered to dealers at retail. Mint. RH only (although there probably is a way to convert it.) $2295.00.
Bellinger/Saracione 3.75" Nickel/silver Salmon reel. I've been trying to sell these as one of a set of three with matching serial numbers, but they just haven't moved. Therefore, I'm splitting them up. This one is 3.75"x0.9" and is 12.2oz. It'll hold a WF9F & 250yds of 30#. It would also hold a shorthead spey in the 6/7/8 range and adequate backing. All of these feature Joe Saracione's superb cork disc drag with a 9 position lever for a drag adjustment. This one is brand new and comes with the original velveteen reelpouch, box, and warranty card. These were never made in significant numbers and were only offered to dealers at retail. Mint. RH only (although there probably is a way to convert it.) $2395.00
- Hodgman Lakestream Wading Shoes. Brand new Size 14 wading shoes. Lightweight, but seems to be built fairly ruggedly. The pair weighs about 2 1/2 pounds. Felt soles, cushioned midsole and tongue, and brass speed lacing. $35.00.
Pflueger Supreme 577DA. This is the original Supreme from the early 1970s and has nothing to do with the reel Pflueger again calls the Supreme. These were one of the few options open for anglers at that time in a true saltwater reel, but for whom a Seamaster or FinNor Wedding Cake was but a dream. The DA stands for dual action. These reels are often called dual-mode reels, but that isn't actually accurate. These are anti-reverse reels with a fairly significant drag system. A lever on the backplate allow one to flip into "direct drive." In truth, it's just a means of stripping out line without having to pull against the drag in anti-reverse or to back off the drag in order to strip line. There is only a very minimal, essentially non-adjustable, drag available while in direct drive, so one learned to flip the lever back to the anti-reverse position before resuming fishing. 3.65"x0.80" and 10oz. It'll hold a WF9F and 200yds of 20#. It comes in the original box, zippered case with a defective, but usable zipper, instruction book, and the grease and oil containers that are original. Condition is VG visually as the finish on the backplate shows some wear. These were not anodized. In fact the black finish on the frame is the same that's used on Medalists of the same era. The spool is a satin silver and always seemed to me to be of a more durable finish. This reel is RH only as there is no way to convert it. VG visually and excellent mechanically. $150.00.

In fact the black finish on the frame is the same that's used on Medalists of the same era. The spool is a satin silver and always seemed to me to be of a more durable finish. This reel is RH only as there is no way to convert it. Excellent visually and mechanically. No reelcase or paperwork. $195.00.

Scientific Anglers System 2 #7/8. The latest version of this model that's been around close to two decades. 3.55"x0.95" and 7.4oz. It holds a WF8F & 240yds of 20#. I see a lot of these on the Great Lakes' Tribs. Since they are quite well known for being fairly rugged they also make a good reel for warmwater fishing, though it's got more drag than you'll need for bass and pike. This one appears to be unused and probably was never even mounted on a reelseat. It comes with the original box and instruction sheet. Excellent+. LH, but can be converted. $95.00.
Scientific Anglers Mastery 10/11. This is one from several years ago when these SA models were made by Hardy in England. 3.75"x 1.15" and 8.5oz. It'll hold a WF11F & 250yds of 30#. Perhaps more importantly, this would make a terrific inexpensive spey reel. It would hold a Windcutter 7/8/9 and at least 150yds of 30#, even more with a typical Scandinavian setup. This one has a small mark on the rim, another on the reelfoot and a few very minor marks on the drag knob. It still qualifies as excellent and the operation is butter smooth. It comes with its original (though a little beat up) box and the instruction sheet. Excellent. Currently LH, but can be converted. $150.00.
- Gilmore conversion kits. These convert your Gilmore reel from anti-reverse to direct drive or vice versa. Once you've done it once or twice the whole task can be accomplished in a matter of a few seconds. To me, it is one of the best features of the Gilmore reel, but truthfully most people who buy the reel do not buy the conversion kit. These have been on my shelf for years and need to find a happy home. When AR is listed first, that means it's a kit to convert an anti-reverse reel into direct drive. I have the Model X360 in AR-->DD, X400 in AR-->DD, and X475 in AR-->DD. These retail from $185.00 to $221.00. I'm selling them for $95.00 each. At this price, if you own a Gilmore you ought to check to see if one of these will work on your reel, as it'll allow you to use your reel as either an anti-reverse or a direct drive depending upon the species pursued and conditions. Black. All are new from inventory. $95.00.
- Streamline Custom felt soled bootfoot waders. These are 5.5mm waders from what was at one time one of the leading wading manufacturers in the US. These are custom built and will work best for someone with a 40-42" waist and an inseam of roughly 30". The boots are size 9. 5.5mm keeps one very warm so I only used these smack dab in the middle of the winter, and I just don't do much fishing during that time any longer. If you like wading the Great Lakes Tribs when the air temperatures are 20*F and the water isn't much more than 35*F you'll love these. In terrific condition. They don't leak, aren't stained, and the felt is near new. There's so much Thinsulate lining in the boot that I often fished in very cold weather with only two pairs of liner socks. These were over $350.00 new. Now-$75.00.
- Hardy Bouglé 3". The first reproduction of this long admired reel was begun in 1998. This is from that early era, before the MKIV, MKVI, and the new MKVII versions. On these the crankplate is solid like in the originals from decades ago. 3.0" (pillar to pillar)x0.875" and 4.9oz. This should hold a WF4F and close to 50yds of 20#. It comes with the paperwork that shows the serial number, and is signed by the reelmaker in traditional Hardy form. The reelmaker's initials are also stamped inside the reel. The only thing missing, and the reason why this one is priced where it is, is the beautiful Hardy reelcase. It does have a non-original case and the original box. Condition is Excellent. Currently set up for RH retrieve, but can be converted. $550.00.
- Orvis DXR 9/10 DD. Over the years I've been somewhat critical of some of the reels Orvis has developed. This is one where they got it right. It's nice looking, has a serious offset drag and very nice capacity for its weight. These were made by Lamson Reels for Orvis. When Lamson was purchased by Sage, Orvis moved production of the DXR models to Ross. These early Lamson models seems to be the most sought after. 3.5"x1.0" and oz. It'll hold a WF9F and 250yds of 20#. It comes with the original Orvis reelcase, but no box nor paperwork. Currently LH, but can be converted. Has been lined, but not fished. Excellent. $295.00.
- ATH Design Remco. This one is from the Danish ATH company, actually Fiskars. It uses the same design that Ari did in the originals, which of course, were made in Holland. The Danes made a couple of improvements in the original design, such as adding a pillar at the 6:00 position. This makes line handling much easier. Many fishers who have used both versions quite a bit will tell you the drag is smoother on the Danish models. In general, collectors prefer the Dutch version and guys who plan to use it often prefer the Danish model. 2.6"x0.8" and 4.8oz. It'll hold a WF5F and 50yds of 20#. This one is silver and gold and only one very small ding on the rim shows it's been used. It comes with the original reelcase, paperwork, and box. Currently LH, but with some effort can be converted. Excellent. $495.00.
- Henschel #2AR with the progressive reelfoot. An outstanding reel that's made in Germany. For those of you who like anti-reverse reels in the smaller sizes, this is one of the very few that are available and are still current. 3.5"x0.8" and 8.3oz. It'll hold a WF8F and 150yds of 20# so it's right on the edge of being a bonefish reel. Certainly, for salmon, steelhead, and other lightweight saltwater fish, it's among the finest AR models ever. The finish is extremely durable as it's a hardcoat finish rather than normal anodizing. This ones been lined and doesn't appear to have been fished, but with the finish the Henschel uses it really is hard to tell. By the way, this one does come with an outgoing click. It comes with the original reelcase, box, and paperwork. Excellent+. Figure LH only, as conversion would require sending it back to Germany. $395.00.SOLD
- Loop Hi-Tec SeaTrout. This is the second generation of this reel. Instead of the lever for a drag adjustment this one has the entire backplate as the adjustment, similar to the third generation which were known by numbers (Hi-Tec #1, etc.) 4.25"x1.2" and 9.0oz. It'll hold a WF9F and 200yds of 20#. These were very high quality reels and the drag range on this one is far superior to that on the first generation. These are glossy black, while the third generation were more of a midnight blue. It comes with the original nylon reelcase. It shows a tiny bit a wear around the reelfoot, but that's it. Currently LH. It can be converted, but it is a bother and there are no directions on how to do so. Therefore consider it LH only, unless you know how to convert it. Excellent. $795.00.SOLD
- Willow Reel from Mystic Outdoors. These are beautiful traditional S-handled reels from a Michigan company. This one has true ebony sideplates with a gorgeous epoxy coating that makes the black look like wet paint. 2.75"x0.80" and 4.6oz. It'll hold a WF4F and 50yds of 20#. It comes with the original semi-hard leather case and paperwork. This is a new reel that has never been lined. Currently RH, but can be converted. Almost 30% off the retail price. $495.00.
- Diamondback 14' 10 weight 3 piece speyrod. Assembled from a blank by well known Wisconsin rod builder, Bob Blumreich. This is a horse of rod, probably best suited to king salmon and the like. It has a stiffer feel than most of the buggy whip traditional speyrods, but it's not quite as crisp as the Scandinavian rods so popular today. If you like fishing Rio Windcutters or Mid-Speys in the 9/10/11 weight area I think you'll love this rod. It features a copper/brown blank and spigot ferrules. It also comes with a gorgeous aluminum tube and a rod sock. Shows little, if any, signs of use. Excellent. $295.00.
- Rare and Unusual Fy Tying Materials: A Natural History Volume 1-Birds . A book by Paul Schmookler and Ingrid V. Sils. One of the hardest to find recent books on flyfishing. It is signed by both authors. Condition is excellent. I've seen this book sell for over $1000.00. Published in 1994, this is the first (and only) edition. A rumored second printing never happened to my knowledge. $550.00. (Buy the two volumes together for $995.00.)
- Rare and Unusual Fy Tying Materials: A Natural History Volume 2-Birds and Mammals. A book by Paul Schmookler and Ingrid V. Sils. One of the hardest to find recent books on flyfishing. It is signed by both authors. Condition is excellent+. I've seen this book sell for almost $1000.00. Published in 1997, this is the first (and only) edition. $550.00. (Buy the two volumes together for $995.00.)
- Loomis 12010IMX. This is a 10' 10 weight two piece rod that casts incredibly well. It features three large stripping guides and then snakes. Black anodized reelseat with a flared extension butt. It comes with a non-original, but very nice, Cordura covered rod tube. The cork shows minimal signs of use and the rest of the rod looks nearly new. Excellent. $295.00.
- Sage 9140-3. A 14' 9/10 weight 3 piece spey rod. More specifically, it was one of the early Scandinavian rods that Goran Andersson designed for Sage. For several years, this was considered one of the best speyrods on the market, and it'll still do most anything you'd want. When this rod was current the Scandinavian shooting head and casting styles were just getting started in North America, so most guys lined this with a 9/10/11 Windcutter or something similar and a few even felt it cast better with a 10/11/12 Windcutter. It has a cork insert clear anodized aluminum uplocking reelseat. It also features the original rod sock and tube. The cork shows very minimal use and the rest of the rod appears close to new. Excellent. $395.00.
AND it comes with a SPARE SPOOL. The reel has the original reelcase and box while the spool comes with just the reelcase. LH (but can be converted by SA.) Excellent. $2995.00.
