Al Bellinger, who was at one time best known for his gorgeous reelseats, is featuring a high-end traditional reel that should be consistently available without long waiting periods. Called the Classic, these reels are close to perfection. They have the beautiful traditional look, and have sidebands made from polished aluminum and stainless pillars. The sideplates are Delrin and the spools are aluminum, bronze, and stainless. Even the screws are stainless. The gear and pawl click is nonadjustable, but it is convertible from RH to LH. Each reel comes with a luxurious soft leather pouch. All three sizes are available now. Right now, Bellinger also has its Classic salmon reel available, which is very similar to the other Classic models except it's 3.5" in diameter and will have an actual drag. The same reel in a 4.0" and 4.5" Spey version is also available now. These have solid Delrin sideplates. Al has also released his Gear & Pawl version of the 3.5", 4.0", and 4.5" Spey. It essentially has an enhanced (stronger) version of the non-adjustable gear and pawl found on the trout models. These come with velveteen pouches. Bellinger is also doing a small run of Nickel/silver trout reels in the 2.75" and 3" size. They're actually more like the Classic model with N/S instead of polished aluminum. Bellinger has put beautifully radiused rims on the N/S models that reminds one so much of the original vom Hofe reels. They are absolutely stunning.
